To be honest, this is the first project from Stu the CSS-meister that I'm not too keen on.
I found it hard to navigate without having to keep going back to reclaim my spot.
Of course, I'm just a passenger in the back row...

If you are already using IE conditional comments, shouldn't you also use them for CSS (instead of using the '* html'-hack) ?
Also, I have to agree with BillyG. I think the nagivation problems have to do with the fact that the menu behaves sluggish.
Maybe it would help if you redesigned the CSS so the LI doesn't have any styling (like on your 'Explorer > An IE7 bug' page) ?

Condor, there is only one * html hack so I thought that it was easier to have just one css file than create a separate one for IE5.5/IE6 and have to use conditional comments to load it.
I don't think moving the styling from the list to the link will make any difference to the speed, but I will see if it does.

A small change to remove the left side padding from the sub-levels may help with navigation. I can see no problem with the 'speed' of the sub-levels.

In spite of the comments above I really like this menu. But I have a stupid beginner question: I would like to get a frameless and CSS-only page setup. How to get the data(linked to the menu list items) into display of the container area (div #outer)? Is it possible to let it appear 'behind' the flyout menu? Do I have to establish special boxes as a 'Target area'?...
Your help is really appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
