I was really impressed my this demo. At the moment I'm hacking at it to make the tabs horizontal and removing the cover. I' m basically attempting to make a site banner with some tabs beneath it aligned to the bottom-right corner that overwrite the banner image with a styled list of links.

Hope you are sucessful with your project. One point to be aware of however is the fact that you cannot have nested links.

Stu, to no avail, I've been trying to use your code (book and lamp light) as a basis for creating CSS-only tooltips that open when you click on a link and close when you click on the tooltip. Do you have any suggestions? I've already witnessed how Mozilla and IE handle "focus" differently.

Stu, I found out you can use a combination of ":focus" (for Mozilla) and ":active" (for IE) to get the right effect. Please disregard my last post.

This demo was produced a few years ago now and things have moved on. I have found that it IS now possible to have links within links in IE and have a new demo here www.cssplay.co.uk/menu/one_page.html

Hi Stu, first of all, great site! I have been tinkering with the tabbed pages demo and trying to convert that to a structure similar to your css book demo. I've stumbled on a problem though: When I click a link on one of the "pages", the book will close. Apparently the "cover" will lose focus and so covers the whole thing, rendering the "click" to the link (within the page) useless. Any suggestions? Thanks

A book metaphor was introduced by Xerox many years ago. I have been "obsessed" off and on over the years. Produced many variants, although none have been published or used but sparingly. Yours was actually very simple. Kudos...my example of your book views correctly in Opera 7.50 beta...I have an example online...it validates across the board...used tabindex.
