Doing it with style
This is basically the previous menu without the conditional comments and tables which were required for this to work in IE6.
Instead I have used Microsoft timeaction (TIME) to monitor the mouse hovers over the list items and show/hide the sub menus accordingly. All for IE6 which has its own stylesheet and xmlns <html xmlns:t="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:time">
I have also used timeaction to hold the hover state of the parent list items to show the path through the menu, again for IE6 only.
All other browsers use the li:hover structure to show/hide the sub menus.
Tested in IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, Firefox, Opera, Safari(PC) and Chrome, SeaMonkey, Flock, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
