Information

This demonstrations shows how it is possible to have fluid boxes with three curved corners and one square corner using four background images, with NO extra markup or javascript.

This is acheived using a definition list which is able to handle three background images, one in the <dl>, one in the <dt> and one in the <dd>

Using slightly different styling these images can be placed to leave the square corner top/left, top/right, bottom/left and bottom/right.

This demonstration uses gif images of the correct color to blend in with the background colors, but you could change these to transparent gifs so that the box colors can easily be changed or even transparent pngs so that a better blend can be made (using javascript to make the png transparency work in IE5.x and IE6).

Although not to be used for general layout, these boxes can be useful for creating information areas on web pages.
