Doing it with style
I have had many emails recently asking if my demos will work in mobile browsers and in particular the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
I must admit that I have not tested many of my earlier demos on this platform but now that I have these 'mobiles' I have been testing my later demos.. But although the multi-level menus all work when using the Safari Mobile browser, they all suffer from the same problem, once a sub menu is open there is no way to close it again without having to click on another link. So in many cases you are left with a sub menu open covering the page content. This happens in many of the multi-level menu systems and not just the ones on CSS play.
So with this in mind I will be producing several dropdown/flyout menus that will work in all PC/Mac browsers and also have a method of closing 'open' sub menus when viewed using the Safari Mobile browser.
If you are using a PC or Mac browser then the above menu will be a single level dropdown menu with a down arrow to indicate which top level items have a dropdown sub menu.
If you are using an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch then when 'tapping' the top level link containing a down arrow, the sub menu will show and the down arrow will change to a white circle with a black inner cross. Tapping any other top level link will close this sub menu or you can tap the black cross to close it.
Tested and working in IE7+, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome, Flock, SeaMonkey, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
Because of all the time and effort spent in producing this demonstration I would ask that you respect my copyright.
