Doing it with style
Tested and working in IE7+, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera.
Following on from the previous dropdown/flyout menu using click actions instead of hover, this is a dropline menu that uses click actions to show the dropline.
The above menu, which is just a simple set of nested unordered lists, requires that you click on any of the top level items with arrows to open the dropline sub menus. The dropline will be held open until you either click another top level item or click anywhere off the menu.
I have also added CSS3 styling to give corner radii and reflections for browsers that support these styles. Safari and Chrome will see all these styles.
As explained in the previous menu, Inernet Explorer is very buggy when it comes to the support for :active/:focus with the adjacent sibling selector and in this menu I have again use TIME action to have this work in all versions of IE from IE5.5 to IE9. You could also use any of the javascript emulators available on the web which give Internet Explorer support for :active/:focus and selectors.
5th April 2011
TIME action removed and replaced with a single line .htc file for IE which corrects bugs with :active/:focus styles. This now works in IE7 - IE9 and all non-IE browsers.
