Doing it with style
A chance email from Atul Gupta has led to this menu being produced.
This one uses no width setting for any of the levels but just relies upon the width of the text in each level. The only hacks are for IE5.5 which for some reason adds a double left margin to every level.
The top level items use the sliding doors method to have tabbed images with rollovers AND is also centered in the page.
For browsers that understand there is also an opaque background to the dropdown lists.
This menu has been tested and works in IE5.5, IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera, Safari(PC) and Google Chrome.
Will work in IE8 using the meta tag in the page head to switch to IE7 emulation, but yet to be tested in IE8 mode.
A flyout version is now available - Any width flyout.
