Hah! Clever!!

I notice a pretty heavy preload lag with IE6. Is it possible to use a very tall image and reset background-position (the basic no-flicker-no-javascript-image-hover CSS method)?

Just had some fun with :focus on your example - this would be a great feature to use NoDots with :)

Drew, this could be used with NoDots quite easily.
I don't think a very tall image would make any difference to the load times. Perhaps a bitmap font might improve things by reducing the image file size.

^^ Just a little odd... the markup required is very impractical. Just pointing out that it "CAN be done" - I don't know anyone who'd want to do it like that though =P
